Commercial Exterior Cleaning - Farmfoods Supermarket, Crownhill, Plymouth

Overview

Farmfoods supermarket in Crownhill, Plymouth, gave us the opportunity to add another full commercial exterior-cleaning project to our portfolio. We had to clean the entire building exterior, including the roof, frontage and signage area, the car park entrance, and wash the cladding. To safely access all elevated sections, we carried out the roof-level work with a MEWP cherry picker.

The uphill battle

We didn’t want our cleaning to disrupt the supermarket’s business in any way. We aimed to keep the public access areas safe and clear from beginning to end. Customers shouldn’t be bothered by our work, so we carefully addressed the car park and entrance. To avoid damaging the signage and frontage areas during our cleaning, we had to protect them. As if things weren’t complicated enough, the roof had a corrugated profile, and moss and debris had collected in the troughs - a surface-level rinse wouldn’t have been enough. A proper treatment was needed.

How did we do it, you ask?

We set up a MEWP cherry picker to safely access the roof around plant equipment and fixtures. When cleaning the roof, our teams worked systematically around skylights, ventilation units, and plant equipment on the corrugated profile. Using the right pressure and soft washing, we washed the cladding across all building elevations.

To refresh the appearance of the frontage and signage area, we cleaned them carefully, without damaging them. Our team used pressure washing for the entrance and car park, while managing customer foot traffic.

How did it all look in the end?
